| INFANT
CLASS
Taking
care of infants is an extremely difficult task and requires teachers
with very special skills. Fortunately our teachers have the patience
to provide your infant with safe and secure care.
Infants
require constant attention and feeding virtually every 2 hours especially
at the beginning. They also need relentless diaper changes and plenty
of stimulation. Above all they need to be hugged and provided plenty
of love.
As
a result we require our Infant parents to follow strict rules. While
the parents have some discretion on the routine and foods that they
would like to give their infants, the school will monitor the situation
very carefully
Parents are asked to provide sufficient milk
and food items. Infants and toddlers grow at a very rapid rate and
their food intake might grow dramatically, so care must be made
to provide them with the proper foods.
While we are receptive to
new ideas and suggestions, our teachers also have a significant
amount of experience to offer you many valuable suggestions.
While
each infant follows its own schedule, we try to develop a routine
at an early age. That means specific eating and nap times, going
outside to our carpeted outdoor play area, circle time early in
the morning, painting and arts crafts projects in the afternoon.
Each
infant has their own daily information sheet which lists everything
your baby ate/drank at the school, how it was consumed, diaper change
times, special occurrences and a variety of other information.. This
is attached to the notice board. Parents are required to sign-in
this sheet as they arrive in the morning and take it home with them
when they leave in the afternoon.

Infant Care Checklist |
Food - Parents should supply plenty of milk, cereal, formula, juice.
Feeding times, especially for very young infants is every two hours.
Moms if you are supplying breast milk, supply whatever you can and supplement the rest.
Diapers - Bring a good supply of diapers, wipes, lotion and creams.
Clothes - Supply extra 2 sets of clothing. Warm jackets and headgear for
winter. Swim wear for summer for water play activities.
Crib
Materials - Crib sheets, blankets, and crib guard to put
around crib so baby will not put hand through the crib and get it
stuck. Please ensure that you take clothing home every Friday and
bring it back on Monday.
While
we try to provide the best possible care for your infant, accidents
do happen.
This happens at first around 9 months of age when infants start to walk. Don't be alarmed. Just prepare for it by dressing them in clothes and shoes that will protect them.
At
the age of around 18 months your child will start biting or might
be bitten by another child in turn. They will also have falls, knocks
and bruises.
These
incidents often happen every fast. While your heart might skip a
beat at the mere thought of this, you should not worry about it.
This is part of growing up. We take safety very seriously. What
we do, is provide sufficient supervised care to minimize any injuries
and provide immediate attention after an incident.
Your
child will also be prone to more illnesses when at school even though
we wash all toys on a regular basis and disinfect all work surfaces
and keep our refrigerators spotlessly clean. The positive aspect
of this is that exposure to such disease early on will make your baby
much stronger, even though as a parent, you may dread to see your
baby become ill.
Over
the years we have found children who joined our center as infants
have done consistently better at school and college. Many have gone
on to achieve significant career success.
Early exposure to other people
and the stimulation that a childcare center can provide can teach
children excellent social skills, consideration for others and independence.
So if you want good quality infant care, give us a call. We love
to show off.

Under
our infant care program parents are required to provide all food
items. There is a special refrigerator to store all perishable items.
We also have a special area to store dry foods such as cereal.
A
sufficient supply of diapers, wipes, baby lotion, baby powder and
a change of clothes must also be supplied. Plus crib sheets, crib padding and blankets. These need to be taken
home every Friday, washed and brought back to the school on Monday.
